DEA Aviation: aerial data capture firm takes flight
Nottinghamshire-based aerial data provider sets its sights on international expansion
Founded in 2006, DEA Aviation is a technology-led provider of specialised aerial data acquisition services. Operating out of Retford Gamston Airport in North Nottinghamshire, the business employs over 200 highly skilled professionals including engineers, pilots and software developers.
The challenge
As demand for its services grew internationally, the company recognised the need for investment to expand its capabilities so that it could meet increasing customer demands across Europe and beyond, leading them to seek support from UKEF.
The solution
We supported DEA Aviation through our Export Development Guarantee, which helps UK exporters access loan facilities for general working capital or capital expenditure purposes.
This guarantee helped DEA Aviation to secure a £16.5 million financing package from their bank, Santander, which included both new financing and the restructuring of existing loans.
The impact
The £16.5 million package supported DEA Aviation’s strategic growth plans and operational expansion, giving them the money needed to invest in new technologies and create new jobs.
As DEA Aviation continues to expand, this funding will support the company to establish its position as a leader in intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance services.
The funding recognises that DEA is a substantial exporter and will enable the company to continue to expand its services internationally where we have built a strong reputation with prestige customers in Europe and beyond.
