Unlock finance as a supplier of critical minerals
This support is intended to support finance for:
- UK-based companies supplying critical minerals or goods that contain them to UK exporters
- projects or companies outside the UK supplying critical minerals to UK exporters
For companies operating in the UK:
- Critical Goods Export Development Guarantee supports finance for UK companies selling critical minerals (or goods containing them) to UK exporters. Intended for commercial lending facilities over £25 million.
For projects or companies outside the UK:
- Critical Minerals Supply Finance provides a guarantee on finance provided by a commercial lender to an overseas project or company for operations (including mining, processing, manufacturing and recycling) which have a long-term offtake contract in place to supply UK exporters with critical minerals products.
The critical mineral in the product must be on the Critical Minerals Intelligence Centre list (table 1): UK 2024 criticality assessment.
‘Critical minerals’ are raw materials like lithium, graphite and cobalt which are essential to the UK’s largest exporting sectors. They are used in range of emerging and sustainable technologies like electric vehicles, solar panels and wind turbines.
